BUSINESS BOTSWANA ENGAGES MINISTER OF LABOUR AND HOME AFFAIRS ON KEY ECONOMIC ISSUES

 Business Botswana delegation, led by the President, Mr. Neo Nwako paid a courtesy call to the Minister of Labour and Home Affairs, Honourable Major General (Retired) Pius Mokgware. During the visit, Mr. Moleele congratulated the Minister on his recent appointment and reaffirmed Business Botswana's commitment to collaborating with the Ministry to create a favourable labour environment that will enable the private sector to thrive.

Among the key issues discussed were:

a) The proposed P4,000 minimum wage

2) Abrupt and unclear holiday announcements

3) The implications of the local government per-diem on employment

4) Labour law review, among other topics.

In response, the Honourable Minister welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation for Business Botswana's role in the economy. He acknowledged the importance of the issues raised and indicated that the Ministry is ready to facilitate efforts to improve the ease of doing business in Botswana.
