This Morning, the Botswana-Cyprus Business Summit was held at BITC’s Exponential Building in Gaborone, bringing together Business Botswana members, local business leaders, and three distinguished delegates from Cyprus ;Mr. Stavros Stavrou, President of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, His Excellency Mr. Antonis Mandritis, High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus, and Her Excellency Ms. Petra Pereyra, EU Ambassador to Botswana and SADC.
Speakers emphasized the deepening of Botswana–Cyprus ties, spotlighting opportunities in healthcare, renewable energy, education, digital transformation, and expanded access to European markets. The EU reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Botswana’s economic diversification, while Cyprus outlined capacity-building initiatives and investments that will strengthen cooperation.
The highlight of the day was a presentation by Mr. Kagiso Koyabe, Head of Capacity Building and Business Advisory at Business Botswana, who outlined practical pathways for collaboration between Botswana and Cyprus. He emphasized BB’s wide membership base of over 2,500 companies across all sectors, strong associations eager for partnerships, and platforms such as the High Level Consultative Council (HLCC), where BB continues to advocate for reducing red tape in doing business. His message was clear: by leveraging BB’s networks and fostering structured collaboration, the two nations can unlock opportunities that will create jobs, strengthen industries, and expand markets.
The summit concluded with vibrant networking, where partnerships were seeded and a shared vision of cooperation between Botswana and Cyprus took shape.
